Lawmakers in Suffolk County, N.Y., have voted to ban polycarbonate baby bottles and sippy cups, a move county officials say would result in the nation's first such ban.
The bill's sponsor, Democrat Steve Stern, told Newsday that if the ban wins final approval it will protect the county's children from a chemical that some scientific studies suggest may be harmful.
