I keep hearing that, but I've never read the specific that REQUIRES homes to be updated. Certainly the quote above doesn't, it merely reflects that people doing appraisals and audits include energy-efficient information.

The amendment is what you want to read..that has drastic changes to the original bill and major new additions.

Just read an interesting section though.

The government has left themselves wide leeway to declare any other gas a "greenhouse" gas and implement regulations on that under this bill.

I find this pretty stunning.
EPA top dog Jackson says Cap & Trade will not impact world CO2 levels, that it is really all about entering the world clean energy race.

Instead of trying to scare us to death, they should have been honest with We The People.

I'm reading that Obama/Pelosi/etc. are still pushing for it but the Senate is bucking.

As a matter of fact, didn't I read that while at the G8 Obama told the members something about Cap & Trade passed in the House and he made it sound like the US had already adopted it? Maybe not, but thought I had read that.

He may be right but.... word was the bill was dead in the House, then scant weeks later it went to vote before the House (very quickly). The day before the vote, it appeared to not have the votes. However, last minute deal making got it passed.

The fight against it can't be ignored at this point.

Unless the REEP portion is amended elsewhere in another amendment, NOWHERE does it say a house must be retrofitted or updated prior to sale. REEP establishes a retrofit and upgrade program to be used by the states. It requires appraisers to be trained in and account for the value of retrofits, updates and green energy uses in the value of the house. It has some head-scratchingly nebulous comments about where funding is going to come from.

But nowhere does it mention requiring anyone to update, especially not prior to selling a house.
