We are foresaking living in the 21st century opting to go back to the years just before the second world war.

Back before the days chemicals made us live better lives and all.

I love cotton. Sorry but no synthetic of chemical fibers for me, I want 100% cotton and I want it natural.

We use 100% cotton bedspreads and if you are over 60 I am positive you have seen these same bedspreads.

http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/6941/bedspread.jpg

The one in the photo is 50 years old, poor thing is getting tattered and while it needs to be replaced I hate the thought of using anything else. These are great, no allergies (unless you are allergic to cotton) and while they keep you warm on a cold night they breath!

The new ones all appear to be made in China and they feel and smell as if they were made in the petrochemical factory zones. Dreadful, smelly things I wouldn't want on my property much less my bed.

Ladies, where can I find one exactly like the one in the photo? Queen size beds, would like three.

Chenille Bedspreads! I can't tell you HOW many times I woke up from a "quick nap" with the pattern embedded on my face.

I found one website so far, all vintage. Maybe you can find something there: Vintage chenille bedspread (http://www.chenille-bedspread.com/vintagechenillebedspread.html - broken link)

Most of the Stores I found look like newer "re-makes" that might have that chemical smell, despite being 100% cotton.

Good luck!

OMG I think I found it!

This is wonderful!

I want to get into a time machine and go back to before I was born. I am 60 and except for electronics and clothes I wear I want everything older than I am.

At $169 it appears kind of pricey when compared to the petrochemically enhanced products coming out of Red China's commercial zones but you get what you pay for.

There is nothing better to lay down and take a nap on than this.

Thank you both very much.

I buy organic cotton sheets and blankets that haven't been treated in the production process, figuring that anything you spend 6-8 hours a day in contact with should be as untreated with potential allergens as possible. It's not a cheap way to go, but I think the benefits are worth it. Likewise I wash the sheets frequently with a no-dye, no-perfumes gentle soap.

I've gotten a couple things at Vermont Country store I liked - my current favorite is a broad-brimmed straw hat with no back. That way, when I drive, I can lean my head back against the headrest without the hat hitting it, yet I still have good sun protection on the sides of my face as well as the front. Plus the illustrations and the "way back" ads in the catalog are amusing.

I've started moving towards bamboo fiber linens. The bamboo sheets we have on our bed are softer than the softest 800 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets you can find.

Bamboo is highly renewable, environmentally friendly, and naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial.

Bamboo Fabric is Antibacterial, Antifungal & Antistatic

Bamboo contains a natural and unique agent called "bamboo kun" which prevents pathogens and other harmful matters from cultivating on it. Unlike other types of fabric where chemical antimicrobial agents are used, bamboo fabric products do not need (or use) these chemicals, which can cause skin allergy and other irritations.
