I would love to bring a low cost solar panel system to my home and cut down on the electric bill. I've already "looked it up", so please only respond if you have a working system or know of someone who does. Wind maybe?

I copied this question from a different thread that wasn't responded to because I guess it was posted in the wrong category, but I have the same question, so please let me know if you personally have constructed some or know of someone who has and how difficult it is to do.

Thank you!

Are you talking about constructing your own PV panels or designing and implementing your own system? We've lived for 7 years off-grid and are now grid-tied using our PV system.

Making your own photo-electric cells is a major pain in the rear, and very nearly impossible to get anywhere close to a high efficiency cell.

We have 2 sets of nearby neighbors; 1 that is off-grid, and 1 that ties in. They both have solar and wind.
