The Best Colleges website ranks Elon University as No. 1 among "The 50 Most Amazing College Campuses." UNC Chapel hill was 27th, Duke was 35th and Wake Forest was 49th.

I did my undergrad in WNY (St. Bonaventure) and just finished my graduate work at Elon and YES, it is a beautiful campus. They managed to make all the buildings be the same architectural style and the weather down here keeps it green all year. I think a lot of campuses up North could compete if the weather was better and if they managed to avoid building in the 60s and 70s (all the state universities and a lot of the private schools have that ugly cheap 60s minimalist architecture going on for any construction that happened in that time frame -- a big downer).

All in all, I can definitely see why Elon has the prettiest campus.

You hit it on the nail my friend! Elon University has the benefit of expanding their campus over the past 10 years....and having the land to do it.

NC State, which is a terrific state school, is really quite unattractive. There is not a central 'court yard' which would define the school nicely.
