I am hearing several disturbing rumors, one says an old friend of mine is dead, the other says he is really ill and will be dead shortly, his name is Larry McSwain, and, last I heard he was a district court judge in GSO . I am hoping some one will respond with something along the lines of "Nope Dusty!!! Larry is still alive and kickin' "

I don't live in NC (I'm only on this forum because of a possible relo there soon), but I did a bit of digging on this. There's a Lawrence McSwain in the Social Security Death Index (which is a reasonably good index to deaths in the U.S., especially those in the past 30 years or so). However, he was in his 90s...probably not the guy you're talking about.

I also found a mention of a Judge Lawrence McSwain who retired in 2008 because he had cancer. He was 61 at that time. I would guess that he's your old friend.

I'm hoping someone else can tell you more. I hope he's doing okay; from the article, he sound like a great guy (and way too young to be dealing with this).

This should be in the "People Search" section of City-Data, where you can probably get lots of tips on how to research someone.
