Hi All. Doing research for a move. I'm looking for safe urban areas in Greensboro. Ideally the area will be very walkable with varying merchants nearby, public transportation and newer housing. Townhouses would be ideal, second would be single family single story and last would be condominiums.

My second option would be suburban living with at least 2 acres but not too far to be considered rural. TY

Hi, welcome to the area. The options for urban, walkanle neighborhoods are extremely limited however there are a couple. When my wife and I moved up here from Charlotte we chose the Golden Gate area. A couple of restaurants and gas station and groccery stores. There are also quite a few boutiques and shops in the area. In fact my wife waljs to her fitness center. If you need any help let us know.

I'm eventually moving to the area as well and looking for a similar neighborhood. I'd recommend the area around Friendly Avenue and Wendover Avenue. It's a prime well-established neighborhood with much within walking distance, including the Friendly Center. Bear in mind you won't find cookie-cutter new areas with much nearby in Greensboro if that's what you're after. New construction tends to be either more remote or car-centric (or both). We just moved near wendover and it is packed with stores.. restaurants within 2 miles and saw bus stops on wendover...we're renting a townhouse in Bridford Downs and we like the area..the only downfalls if that's even a concern for you is the elementary school...not too happy about it!
Walk Score of bridford downs dr

Good luck!
