We are moving to Clemmons rather shortly and I need to take some courses for medical school requirements. A post-bacc program that is for pre-meds is in Greensboro. The one at Wake Forest in Winston-Salem requires having already applied and failed to get into med school so that one does not apply to me. Would driving from Clemmons to Greensboro be a bad commute? I have heard the traffic around Greensboro can be frustrating at times so this makes me wonder if a commute like that would be unrealistic. I was told it would be about a 45-60 minute drive, would you say that is usually accurate?
Now that we have the I40 loop, my personal opinion is no. Being able to avoid going through Winston saves a lot of time. It will be a 30-45 minute drive depending on how far into Greensboro you're going. Maybe some Greensboro folks can fill you in on rush hour on 40 when you're actually in town but for the most part, I'd say it's an easy drive.
Agreed, it's not a bad commute at all. I did that commute for several years back when they were widening I-40 through the airport area, and it sucked then with all the construction. But now it's a piece of cake.
How many times per week are talking about? I did it a few years ago and it wasn't all that bad...it's not something that I would recommend if it could be avoided, but it's definitely doable. Depending on where you have to go in GSO it's somewhere around 30-40 minutes.
