Let me start by saying I'm a 18 year old male who has no previous work experience. I've been living in Winston for about a year now, I graduated last May I've been applying for jobs and calling to check on my application, sending them my Resume, but no call back or anything. I truely been trying to get a job since the age of 14 and haven't gotten on yet. I don't really know any people here and I have no connections. I live with my parents right now. My plan is to start school in chicago in the future, but first I need a job. Whats the problem? What should I do?

Well, since you have no prior work experience, here is what I would do. I would find an organization, maybe something like the SPCA or a retirement facility, and I would ask to become a volunteer. You don't realize how good that looks on your resume.

Volunteering does several things for you: You meet new people which allows you to build your network of connections, it gives you "work" experience, and it shows future employers that you're unselfish and willing to put in a day's work for nothing. It's a HUGE resume builder.

While volunteering, you still put in applications to part time jobs like fast food or grocery stores. Right now, that's probably your best bet. Keep a check on the Sunday's paper in the want ads as well.

Just curious, but what type of jobs are you applying for?
