Very Active retired teacher grandmother raising 11 yr.old granddaughter wants to rent a modestly priced 2 bd. room house in a safe area of a small town close to Winston-Salem.
Now my question is :Any ideas as to where that might be??
I would really appreciate your thoughts on this.
I need a really long-term rental as I want to raise my granddaughter in one place.

It all depends on how you define "modestly" and "close".
With an 11yo the school district comes into play as well.

Generally, lower rent numbers mean higher everything else (like heat and AC bills).
Here are 100 or so listings to start you off: LINK

good luck.

Hi marg,

All of the small towns around Winston-Salem are safe. In general, Clemmons, Lewisville, and Kernersville would be considered the most desirable and prices will be a little higher because of it. That said, there are lots of options in all budget ranges even in these locations, especially as you get into the more rural areas surrounding them. Other choices would be King, Rural Hall, Pfafftown, Walkertown, Welcome, and Wallburg, among others. Hard to recommend a specific one as they all have their advantages, and you can find nice, safe places to live in all of them. Just depends on your personal preferences regarding amenities, price, distance from W-S, etc.
