We live in that area; the kind of damage wrought in our neighborhood indicates straight line winds. There is a lot of leaf and branch debris on the ground as well as the splitting of Bradford Pears (I don't know why people go for those, being so prone to being pulled apart by high wind
). The storm came through this area then turned and went north around Fork. The Advance crossroad shows no damage but when you get up around the Bermuda Run area it picks up again. I know the tree services are going to be busy.
The property where the old barn sat has been for sale for a couple of years. This past spring, they cleared out a number of large hay bales that sat in the loft. I have to wonder if the barn might have withstood the wind if the owners had not removed that ballast. Those structures were built pretty darned strong. When our neighbors tried to take one down, it required a large bulldozer. The driver ended up getting stuck in the ground because he kept grinding the treads, trying to push the building over
As far as having a remembrance of that building, someone up at the Davie library might know a source. They might even have a print. Several local artists have rendered the historic structures in this county.
