Hello,
I need some input. My family and I are thinking about moving to/near Greensboro, NC. We don't want to be more than 30 minutes from Greensboro. My husband and I have 2 children so the school system is Extremely important as well as low/no crime. The cost of living and homes has to be reasonable. I would also like to be near amenities/parks/movies/restaurants.
Any info would be great! THANKS!!!

Actually the thread referenced above has more information about Winston-Salem and Forsyth County than Greensboro. Since you are focused on Greensboro, there are other threads in the Greensboro-Winston-Salem-High Point sub-forum that have lots of good information about Greensboro and its suburbs. Lots to read.

In general cost of living in the Triad area is quite reasonable. As for recommendations of specific neighborhoods, you'll need to tell us what "reasonable" means to you, i. e. a specific price range. Also ages of children/grade levels?

Ditto on price range...that said...the cost of living here is much lower than central NJ. Check out the property tax rate.
(There is a county and city property tax. Note that Greensboro tax rate is about the same as the county, so living in the county reduces tax by half).

Many of the new people coming in live in Northwest Greensboro. The towns of Summerfield and Oakridge are great.
They feed into Northwest and Nothern High school....both great schools (I like NW better). There is very low crime in the Northwest area.

A really nice park is Bur-Mil, it has a greenway and trails that connect to three watershed lakes in the North. Country Day park is also great, it has Greensboro Science Center which has great exhibits (including penguins!!)

Friendly Shopping Center is one of the nicest shopping centers anywhere in NC. New Garden road has nice shopping also.

You don't say where your husband is working, but much of the growth in jobs is in the airport area (which is why the NW has been booming for many year). It's a great commute from Oakridge, Summerfield, or NW Greensboro.
