Hi. I am going to be moving to Greensboro soon. I currently live in Memphis TN. I l have gotten use to living in an apartment complex that is connected to an off leash dog park. I was wandering there was a version of that in Greensboro? Is there an apartment complex that had hiking trails near, or a dog park, or some random area that allowed an off leash dog? I have a Goldendoodle who is just energetic and he hates the leash. He is vocally controlled - unless he spots a squirrel. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Also any good places to walk/hike with my dog would also be appreciated.
Look in the area of North Lawndale, Old Battle Ground and Lake Brandt Road. There are LOTS of apartments around here.
Country Day park is off of Lawndale, and it has an off leash dog park. It also is connected to a greenway that goes north past Bur-Mil park.
The Plantation at Horse Pen Creek (near intersection Horse Pen Creek and Battleground) has a dog park on site.
(they must have vacancies since they have signs up about various amenities)
There are trails that connect to the greenway near Bur-Mil Park. They are next to Lake Brandt. Dogs are "suppose" to be on leash, but on the non-mountain bike trails (Piedmont, Nat Greene), I see dogs off leash all the time. As a runner who uses the trails I have no problem with friendly or voice controlled dogs off leash. What most people seem to do is to keep dog on leash while on greenway, then let the dogs loose when they go into the trails.
There are also trails around Lake Jannette and Lake Townsend, but I don't know those well.
Thanks for the information! I can't wait to get there and explore.
