Greensboro-based yarn manufacturer Unifi will invest $5 million and hire 10 people in an expansion of its Repreve recycling center in Yadkinville, two shift managers, four operators and four material handlers.
Repreve products are manufactured with yarn made from recycled plastic bottles and are used in apparel and car seats.
The plant will employ 947 after the expansion making it the largest yarn manufacturer in the US.

I would usually skip over this since it only 10 people but that last sentence had me
The staple fiber can be used in apparel, military, denim, upholstery, industrial, medical, automotive and nonwoven products.
The increase is being driven by demand from new customer adoptions with companies, such as Ford, The North Face, Nike, Volcom and Patagonia.

I guess it good someone making money on our trash. I miss the days of getting coins for return bottles.
I would love to tour a recycle center (in winter when bugs are dormant), not only to know what the process but to know what they keep or throw away and preparing it.
I remove caps and wash out bottles, not to help them but to keep bugs away and keep recycle bin from stinking.

Major kudos to Yadkin County in investing in a company that is tailored to grow.
I hope this is start of a trend for the state.

Unifi is THE largest employer in Yadkin... so the expansion is good news. It needs to stay to keep that county afloat.
