A new live music venue is great news. I'm glad they're doing something cool with that space. I think it's a little silly how hard people are ringing the HOB bell on this one, though. There are 80 HOB affiliated venues around the country, but only a dozen of them are branded House of Blues.
Great news for Elm Street and great news for fans of live music.

I don't think it's silly at all. No matter what the venue is called, it's going to be associated with both House of Blues and Live Nation. That's something to be very excited about. The opportunity to see a well known act, up close and personal, is an exciting thing. It's also exciting for neighboring businesses as well. It kind of reminds of what some of my friends who live up in Baltimore have. A place called the "Ram's Head". Small venue that bring in some pretty well known acts.
If this was just a local music venue with no national ties, while it's still nice to have another music venue, it probably wouldn't garner as much attention as something with HOB ties.

To-may-to, to-mah-to. I've actually been to the Ram's Head. Nice venue, and as far as I know it's independent. Which is kinda my point. I guess I have a slight anti-LiveNation bias and prefer independent venues if I have the choice. When I say they're ringing the HOB bell too hard, it's just because (in my humble opinion) it places the emphasis on an arguably misleading name brand instead of on an excellent downtown live music venue. A rose by any other name....
You know? The more I think of it, the more I realize that the HOB affiliation will really be a benefit in terms of booking and promotion. That's undeniable. I just think media outlets should take more care to avoid making it sound like G'boro is getting "A House Of Blues!" Because that's what makes us look like we're stretching.
WXII of Winston Salem was the only news station that flat out called it a house of blues ironically. I say that because some on other websites are saying Greensboro media has blown it out of proportion. I don't care what its called . it will basically be asmaller. hob. under a different name. it will be great for downtown .

It will be a music venue like any number other music venues everywhere. The "big announcement" way that Greensboro officials have of overdoing such things is just an embarrassment to the city.

They are just excited, it's to be expected, i wouldn't really call it an embarrassment
Locally-owned and more seating. Once again, Winston-Salem has beat you to the punch by about 25 years. Come on Greensboro, at least try to keep up.
Ziggy's closed in 2007 and didn't reopen until 2011 so your "25 years" is a misquote in itself. You need to remember there is a hyphen between Winston-Salem, but not a wall between Greensboro and Winston-Salem. So when you point out facts being skewed, over hyped, or whatever in Greensboro make sure you're quotes about W-S are not skewed or exaggerated as you have done here.
As for the rest of the naysayers and those who perpetually cut down Greensboro's announcements I ask this question: how do you think the new venue will be billed?
It's a rhetorical question because somewhere in the billing will be a mention of HOB; it makes business sense. Just like Bowman Gray holding NASCAR sanctioned events even though the Cup series will never run there.
Let me remind you again the Greensboro Coliseum manages the LJVM.
