Any particular reason for not choosing to live in or around Winston-Salem instead?

^ Good question. Unless you have some particular reason to live in Greensboro, you should certainly consider Winston-Salem. You can contact the Indo-US Cultural Association in Winston-Salem for specific information about the Indian community here: Home : Indo-US Cultural Assosciation

I agree. If husband's work is in Winston there's no reason to commute. Winston-Salem is a beautiful city.

Hi all ,
We wanted to stay in a Greensboro as its comparatively more lively n bigger than WS .
We are moving from Jefferson City , Missouri ... So coming from a place like this , we wanted to stay in a bigger town /city .
I see that charllotte/Cary/Raleigh /Durham are all 1 hr driving distance from greensboro so zeroed in that place .

I live in Greensboro. I grew up here. I don't know that it's more lively than Winston. They are both excellent places to live.

You might want to look at the map. Winston is not much farther from Raleigh than Greensboro. Traffic between Greensboro and Winston can be congested during rush hours. It will be just as easy to access other places from Winston as it is from Greensboro.

Huh? Jefferson City is about 43,000 people, Winston-Salem is about 240,000. I don't get it.

Greensboro is only slightly larger than Winston-Salem - by maybe 10% population (not sure of latest counts).

If the job was in Greensboro, then I'd recommend looking there. But I still recommend Winston-Salem since the job will be there.

And as arbyunc said, any of the larger cities in NC will be larger than Jefferson City, MO - its entire metro population is only about 150k. That's about the size of Greenville, NC in the eastern part of the state.

I don't know how many Indians there are in Kernersville, but that's the only sizable suburb between Greensboro and Winston-Salem, if you're looking for suburbs.
