We have just moved here from Fla, and really like it, but as my wife is from VEnezuela, we are wondering if there is a specific Latin community or area of the Triad. We ae wondering if there is a Latin American social group, specifically Venezuelan if any one knows. She may be looking to start a business here, so demographics are obviously important.
Thanks
Craig

Well, for starters, you might try la pulga de Buckhorn Road, Sabado o Domingo, la mayoria de la gente aca son hispanicos, de cada pais.

Flea Market, on Sunday after church, the families show up, girls walking with parents, boys being boys, it is a large flea market, thousands of Hispanics and food! Have always heard the Hispanics refer to it as "La pulga de Buckhorn Road" or, since almost everyone knows where it is, just "La pulga". Saturday is also fun, but, sunday is a stroll around the "Mercado" Let me know if you need directions. Also, La Cocina in Mebane is the best Mexican Restaurant in this neck of the woods.

Not knowing exactly where you are, I suspect, since you are in this forum, that you live close to Greensboro. Get on I-85 heading toward Durham, North, (it's really east at this point, but....) @ exit 157, get off the interstate. at top of ramp turn right. Take the first left, I don't know if the road has a name or is just the driveway to the flea market. on Sunday you would need to get here very early, by 9am the cars are already lined up, after you turn left, the best bet is to take the first available parking spot you can find and walk into the "Pulga". You can almost make a meal by going to all the produce vendors and getting samples of what they have. You may have to look for it, but... normally tamales, pupusa, gorditas and comida gringa can be found. Did I mention the music, lots of music vendors, each with sound systems, occassionally live musicians. ANYTHING can be found here, it may take you a while to find it, but,...it is probably there.

Let me know how it goes, I've always found the people quite friendly, but, I'm a gringo who speaks spanish without much of a gringo accent, My linguistic skills are a souvenier of an ill-spent youth. Besides, I only live about a mile from there, oh yeah,... exit 157 is Buckhorn Road.

My Spanish is pretty good--i speak/understand about 85-90%. The wife is Venezuelan, and I know that there a lot of South Americans here, and am trying to make her feel at home.
Craig
P.S. about how far is that from Greensboro.
