I put the parking deck and an Aloft hotel on the bottom. VF Corp is the anchor office tenant, Luxury apartments are located about midway up. I guess it could be called Center Pointe II. Based on the square footage of VF Corp's current headquarters in the north part of the city, the company could very easily take up 12-stories in this building. 8 floors in the building could be taken up by the hotel and another 8 stories for luxury apartments. That's a total of 28-stories not including parking deck levels. The hotel would be very convenient for out of town business clients for the anchor office tenant and the planned performing arts center is less than a block away. The rendering basically shows that a building of that height would not look odd in Greensboro's skyline especially with other mid and high-rise projects such as Bellemeade Village and the Wyndham hotel adding more density.
VF Corp should move downtown so it can be close to its Wrangler division headquarters which is downtown. VF Corp is Greensboro's only Fortune 500 company and is known for brands such as Wrangler Jeans, Lee Jeans, Nautica, Timberland, 7 For All Mankind ,Chic, Rock & Republic, Eastpak, JanSport, Kipling Europe, Napapijri, The North Face, Reef, Vans, and Eagle Creek.
I actually sent this drawing to a few movers and shakers and they plan on sharing it with Roy Carroll. Now people will have a visual in how this project can impact downtown.
Thanks! Yes it's pretty much to scale. I'm hoping to help stir a little buzz so this can gain some momentum. When people can actually see what can be, it helps create more excitement. Developer Roy Carroll has already seen this drawing along with other local leadership.
The pictures have done it. I now believe this building is guaranteed to be built. And soon. I'm sure they caused Roy to pull out his checkbook and start spending his money, too.
