The Wyndham Championship, one of the oldest tour stops in the PGA, may finally attract Tiger Woods. Woods has never played in Greensboro because the PGA event has always had a bad spot on the calendar being held either right before a major or right after (the times the top players tend to rest) But because of the FedEx Cup point system, Tiger Woods is behind in points and to qualify for the playoffs, Tiger Woods may have to play the Wyndham, the last tour stop before the playoffs and Tiger's last chance to make the playoffs should he not perform well at Bridgestone.
“Well, I’m playing the PGA in a couple weeks,” Woods said after his round. “Hopefully I can play next week at Bridgestone if everything goes well this week, and then we’ll see about Wyndham after that and hopefully I’ll be in the playoffs.”
Tiger Woods considering playing in Wyndham Championship
.....and people will flock there by the thousands just to get a glimpse.
You think? Some gawkers maybe, but golf fans will be looking for a long list of other top players that are actually contenders. This isn't a swipe at Greensboro, but at the media for focusing on a player that hasn't had a sniff at a title in years. During the Open at St. Andrews recently, ESPN spent 20 minutes talking about Tiger without a mention of anyone else - and he was tied for 129th place. It's ridiculous.

But for those who don't have the privilege to travel with the tour this may be their only chance to get remotely close to him, regardless if he is beyond his prime.
He is entered...but it is far from certain. Entering gives him longer to decide. Players withdraw for all kinds of reason...including changing his mind.
Everything I read says he filled out the paperwork so as to not miss the filing deadline.
