The area has encountered a bit of a spurt recently with someone finally buying the old dealership property and building some retail, Zaxby's a few blocks south, but it's still High Point.

I visited the Publix in Winston-Salem. Nice store - they compete mostly with Harris Teeter, right? The employees were the most helpful and cheerful of any grocery store I have ever visited. Of course it's a new store in a new market for Publix, so I'm sure they want to make an especially good first impression. I wish we had a Publix (or Harris Teeter) that was on my way home from work, as I would shop more there if there was. This will be a nice addition for Clemmons and High Point.

Publix competes against Bi-Lo, Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Ingle's, Kroger, Lowe's Foods, and Walmart (Walmart Supercenter, Walmart Neighborhood Market) in North Carolina.

If officially announced, Publix's High Point store would be its first in Guilford County.
