My husband and 2 small daughters will be driving from Louisiana to WS next month to see if my hunch is correct, and that WS would be a good fit for our family.
We want our girls to go through the public school system, so good schools are our main criteria in our search. My husband is an RN, so we would like to be not too far from the big hospitals (within a 15-20 minute drive). My parents will be relocating there in a few years after retiring, and would like to be close to town but would like to live on an acre or two of land. We would like to be close to them, but would prefer a nice neighborhood with other children. Our price range is $150,000-$250,000 for a 4 bedroom home.
So far I'm thinking Lewisville or Pfafftown might be a good fit.
Are there any particular neighborhoods I should be looking at? We would love a neighborhood with sidewalks if possible. We are friendly Cajuns who want to put down roots further north. Thanks for reading!
I can't offer any specific neighborhoods, but if you search on here you'll find other threads with suggestions. Or, enlist a realtor, sine you've already narrowed it down to specific places.
Having an acre or two of land AND a neighborhood with sidewalks is a tough combo, but I think you'll be able to find an area that gets you close. The areas mentioned (Lewisville, Clemmons, Pfafftown, Advance) are fantastic places to start. If you opt to skew closer to more convenience/less travel time at the expense of more land, the western parts of Winston-Salem might work, too.
