Questions about triad (Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point: days on market, homes, utility costs)

I may have a great job opportunity coming up in High Point. I have not traveled through the area in almost a decade so I know things are probably different then what I remember.
My wife currently works at Bi-lo; are there any Bi-los left in the area and how close are they to High Point? Also I noticed housing values are not as high as I expected them to be for the area, is there a reason? In addition, what should I expect to pay for in utility costs for the area?

Depends on what high is to you it North Carolina who did not see the bubble effect as other parts of the country. Try Bilo store locater for area stores Also she might want to work at Harris Teeter, Lowes Food, god forbid even Food Lion.

with the Bilo's all closed, there are many openings at Harris Teeters because they are expanding like crazy. New one on Battleground near Summerfield opening soon. Quite a haul from the HP tho. The reason prices are so low is because Greensboro and Winston are more desirable for most folks and we didn't go up like crazy so we were not on the bubble when it popped. There are lots of homes still on the market here but the prices aren't dropping too much- decrease of around 8% this year so far, but there has been an increase of days on market.

Try looking in the North end of High Point or Jamestown so you are close to HP but your wife can keep her job options open.

I agree with Yourhometriad about north High Point or Jamestown. They are very convenient and many, many housing options available to choose from. It's a booming growing area and very central to Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem, and Kernersville. We relocated here two years ago from Virginia and just love the area and all the conveniences.
