Point being demolishing the mall is out.
Not saying you're wrong or anything (and I see a few other proposed sites in the article), but it looks to my untrained eye that there should be plenty of space there if you demolish the parts of the mall not owned by Dillards/Sears. The actual building would probably need 1/3-1/2 of the footprint that the whole mall takes up right now.

It probably won't be going there, but I don't think space is the issue.

I thought about that while typing my other post, thinking how weird that would look with the arena, Sears, and Dillard's.

Even though this will be built under the umbrella of a university, I think it's a big deal for High Point. The city will finally have a real arena and it will include a conference center, a high end boutique hotel and upscale restaurant. So it will not only serve the university, it will serve High Point as well. One thing we do know now is that it won't be built at Oak Hollow Mall.

The renderings are pretty cool and the architecture blends in with the rest of the buildings on campus.
