I think the key is attracting good paying jobs on that side of town. As upper income people move in we will start seeing higher end retail there.

Now the the new road construction has been completed, there's a lot of grading of land out in Oak Ridge/NW G'boro and there's talk of putting a shopping center next to the Cameron Campus. In time, Oak Ridge will probably have as much shopping as anywhere else.
I have read a decision could be rendered in August also. If Greensboro is chosen as the distribution center's location, the next processes would planning the distribution center with what warehouses would locate there, going to the design phase, soliciting bids for construction, and proceeding with construction.
Specific employment target dates mentioned: 500 jobs by 2023; 250 jobs by 2024; 250 jobs by 2025.
Alamance and Orange counties were reported to be considered for a Publix Super Markets distribution center. They have been eliminated from consideration.
