Food halls seem to be to 2019 what breweries were to 2016. It seems every city nowadays has one or is getting one. Winston-Salem just announced one too recently (I think last week actually).

That said, I think it's a good idea to bring some more people to downtown.

I do miss living in the triad so very much. Looking forward to visiting soon though. Go Rockers!
When I first moved to NC, I became a "member" at some bar in Winston-Salem for their karaoke nights after some fellow karaoke-lovers invited me there. I can't remember the name of the place, but I'm pretty sure it was only $1 for a membership and the membership form was basically your name, address, birth date, and phone number. I remember thinking it was weird that they required memberships but I guess maybe they were doing it for the same reasons.

Pzitz Food Hall down here in Bammer (Birmingham) is awesome and the variety of food from different nations is pretty incredible. It's pretty cool that the triad is starting to pick up on this trend. www.thepizitz.com

I'm pretty sure places that require memberships are that way because of the types of alcohol they serve. Hard liquor drinks require establishments to have memberships. At least, that is my understanding.

more recent commercial building permit applications on-file (sorry for caps. copy/pasting the addresses):

- Odeh's Meditteranean Kitchen - 3805 TINSLEY DR, SUITE 111
- Salt & Pepper - 3793 SAMET DR, SUITE 180
- Bridges for Rich Fork Preserve
- Planet Smoothie - 1231 EASTCHESTER DR, SUITE 117 (near Barberito's)
- Something for a new demising wall at Shoppes at Eastchester, so they may have a new tenant soon.
- Looks as though they're putting a new dental office in where the Mattress Firm used to be (next to the Palladium Chipotle).
- New electric going in the abandoned bank building next to the Mall Loop Barnes & Noble. Owned by HPU, so probably not anything too interesting to the public.
- I'm seeing more applications for random vape shops and self-storage places around town. sigh.
- Coast restaurant at Palladium looks very close to opening (based on driving by, not records)
- Biscuit King - 3916 SEDGEBROOK ST
- Juice Batch - 2758 NC-68 #101
- A new pottery/art entertainment studio in Heron Village

Does anyone know what is going in the small buildings being built adjacent to the new Earth Fare? I'm having some trouble finding information there (admittedly, I have not looked that hard).

Palladium Shopping Center Getting Red Hot - The Rhino Times of Greensboro

Answering my own question here. They are apparently building the two additional strips before they have tenants. I guess it does make sense to prepare for the inevitable. Better to get it out of the way now, so when they're built, the construction crews don't get in the way of the finished businesses.

Not really development but I noticed today that the speed limit along 311/74 has been increased to 65 all the way through. I'm not sure how long ago it changed but I'm pretty sure it happened sometime in the last week.

Edit: Happened yesterday. Found an article:

I had always wondered why it dropped to 60 coming in from WS. Most people didn't slow down where it went from 65 to 60, but I always did.
