And these will be corporate jobs consolidating in Colorado, not textile manufacturing jobs.
But the problem is another company is moving higher end jobs out of Greensboro for greener pastures, no pun intended.

On paper it sounds bad. Greensboro loses VF corporate headquarters. However most of the jobs will remain with only 80 moving to Denver. In addition a new company will be formed, much smaller, and it will be based in Greensboro and own Wrangler which has its headquarters downtown. In addition, Lee Jeans will relocate to Greensboro under the new company.

Its a similar situation with what happened to Lorillard Tobacco in Greensboro after RJR bought out that company. RJR took Lorillard's Newport brand and the new Greensboro company took the Winston and Salem brand cigarettes.

It's more of an image blow with the city losing its only Fortune 500 Headquarters.

I guess I'm happy to see the Triad growing...why does it bother people so much that it isn't as fast as Raleigh and Charlotte? Let them have all the traffic and housing cost problems.

If the slower growth bothers you, either figure out a way to influence a change or (as others said) move to a place where the growth satisfies you. No need for the fuss.

The article actually says that between the Denver and KCMO moves, it will be a wash in terms of the number of jobs. This is probably a case of corporate musical chairs more than anything else.

People seem disturbingly happy about this.

Its the one thing that brings the same couple of Raleigh/Charlotte posters who bicker together - anytime a GSO post mentions growth or something, those posters are quick to scold & ridicule little Greensboro.
