Great news for Greensboro and the Triad. The average salary is not that bad either.

It will be the largest distribution center in the region.

Even better, but the $45k quoted in the article is a MINIMUM, not an average. This is a very big win for Greensboro... Especially the eastern side of the community.

The bizjournal article quotes 45k as avg.
https://www.bizjournals.com/triad/ne...1-000-job.html

Regardless, that's still a good amount of money for E. Greensboro and will most likely spur more development.

Yes, whether it's an average of $45k or a minimum, it's still a lot of solid paying jobs. Publix is also known for taking care of their people.

But yes, average makes more sense.

I wonder how soon Publix Super Markets could have the new distribution center constructed and in operation. Site plans need to be conceived. for construction would need to be solicited. I think 2020 or 2021 should be realistic to open.

That's excellent news. $45k/year (whether it's average or minimum) in this area is a fairly comfortable salary for the most part.

Not to have anyone jump on my back about bringing this up but why does it seem 100% of the distribution buildings and jobs go to Greensboro and not consider W/S? W/S has a lot of undeveloped land to use. I always thought every time i read about a new distribution building being built it is always Greensboro. I never hear W/S even in the running.

More centrally located? Not sure but in Greensboro it would be quicker to hop on the direct hwys to Raleigh and Charlotte just as an example. But idk.

Greensboro has a better infrastructure, more centrally located, closer to the airport, and has land.
