Hi, thinking of buying a home near Lees Chapel Rd & Yanceyville St. in Greensboro. Does anyone know if this is considered a good, decent, or bad neighbood? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Yeah I'd say "decent" is fairly accurate. it's certainly not a bad area though I don't think I'd call it "great". It's pretty much right on the border between newer richer neighborhoods to the west around Pisgah Chuch/Elm and older poorer neighborhoods to the south around the old mall. It IS however very close to the last leg of the urban loop which is currently under construction, so there will probably be a lot more development there over the next decade.
I agree with the other posters, and say "decent" with some pockets of "not as decent" and "better", which is pretty apparent when driving around that area. It's certainly not the prestigious part of town but in some ways that's good because it feels more bucolic and laid back than the northwest side of Greensboro that people here seem to love, which feels more stressful and hectic to me. The downside of that is that there just isn't as much shopping/dining/services in that area as you might find in a more popular, hectic area (Battleground, Wendover, etc.). Also, I'm not sure that the price appreciation will be all that great in that area, but speculating about that can't be the deciding factor as much as whether you personally like the area and would feel comfortable living there or not.
As DCB-CD pointed out, the urban loop may spur more development but I think too many of the "production builder tract houses crammed as closely together as possible" developments could ruin the currently pleasant feel of the area.
Thank you all for the info!! Very helpful!! I got a chance today to ride through the neighborhood to get a more in depth picture of the surroundings, houses, etc. & agree that it is "decent", but not necessarily where I really want to live. I guess I thought I liked the area more than what I did. Oh yeah I did see the urban loop construction and l guess that could be a good or bad thing like you all have mentioned.
