Hello!

I am on a road trip checking out different towns as places to possibly move to....need some quick help from people on this Forum. I am going to check out High Point (have already visited Winston Salem and Greensboro on previous trips and they are not for me) and I need the names of some neighborhoods that would fit what I am looking for. I have a realtor there who I was hoping would drive me around some neighborhoods, but he isn't available on the dates I am there, so I need help.

I am a single woman so am looking for a safe neighborhood with houses under 200k and since it is just for me I want something less than 1600 square feet, my ideal is between 1,000-1,400 sq ft. I love historic homes, really the older the better! I don't mind an area that is turning over with fixer uppers as it would be great to put my own stamp on things.

Anyway, let me know what neighborhoods would be a match to the above, but since my GPS doesn't know how to direct me to a neighborhood name, if you can give me 2 cross streets in the neighborhood or a local business that is there, that would be a big help!

Thank you.

Greensboro and Jamestown are your best bets. You wont find what you're looking for in HP.

Hello Posty Posty,

Thanks for the quick response. Can you expand a bit on why you said I won't find what I am looking for in HP? Is my price point too low? Are there not a lot of older homes? Or are you hinting that there aren't a lot of safe neighborhoods?

More details would be appreciated

HP doesn't have a lot of safe neighborhoods that would be in that price range/houses of that size. Also, most of the safer areas are newer builds without a lot of character. Jamestown might fit what you're looking for. I would also suggest Greensboro, Looking at the Lindley Park/Kirkwood areas.

Anything in Kirkwood or Lindley Park below $200K will go quickly, so you need to get a realtor and be prepared to jump. Here are a couple of examples from Realtor.com that are apparently under contract:

Guilford Hills is another neighborhood in G'boro:

Here's one in Garden Homes that is on the market:

Not true at all. Northern High Point has quite a few homes that fit the bill.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I will do some research on Jamesboro, but as I mentioned in my post I have previously visited Greensboro and didn't like it, so that is not a possibility for me.

If you didn't like G'boro or Winston I don't think you'd like High Point either. They're all more alike than different.

Edit: After reading some of your other threads, I can say High Point is definitely not what you're looking for. Finding a "historic" house for $200K or less will require you to go to a small town far removed from a larger metro area, imo. Warrenton NC maybe?

Now that I'm home and have a few minutes, here are a few Northern High Point listings that may start to fit the bill.
