The Grandover Resort and Spa in Greensboro is now affiliated with Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. Greensboro has had a great relationship with Wyndham through the PGA Wyndham Championship.

The hotel has been added to Wyndham Hotels & Resorts' Grand brand portfolio.

"Grandover fills an upscale niche for Wyndham in the Greensboro market"

It will be one of 65 hotels worldwide a part of the Wyndham Grand and only the 6th Wyndham Grand hotel in the United States. The affiliation will help attract more hotel guests to Grandover and elevate the status of the hotel. As of today Grandover is a part of the Wyndham Rewards program. I knew this was going to eventually happen after the downtown luxury Wyndham hotel flag fell through which is now the Westin being built downtown. Wyndham Grand would be a much higher tier than the luxury Wyndham flag that would have been built downtown. Greensboro can now boast two upscale chains, Westin and now Wyndham Grand. The hotel will still keep the Grandover name, "A Wyndham Grand Hotel" will be added as a tag line like the Mills House in Charleston, SC. or be called the Grandover Resort Wyndham Grand Hotel.

I remember when this hotel was built, there was talk of the 280 room hotel eventually being expanded to 900 rooms. Don't know if that will ever happen but I saw a rendering at the time showing the hotel after expansion and it was huge. It had an identical mirrored tower attached to it with a center portion between them. The center portion was to be built above the arrival shelter area as seen in the photo below and the mirrored tower to the right of that. It would have formed one huge L shaped tower.
