"In separate Instagram stories on Thursday and Friday, Dom’s in Winston-Salem and Radici in Greensboro announced that both restaurants would close, with their last day of service on Aug. 14."
I mean, damn, the Triad can't even support good Vegan?!!
This is getting disturbing. If folks don't start patronizing the really good, alternative places, restaurateurs are gonna be afraid to set up shop in the Triad
I've been a vegetarian for over 30 years, with my standards being Boston and Cambridge. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. Never been to Dom's but wrote off Radici immediately. Underwhelming and overpriced menu. Even for the South. I didn't have to set foot in the place to know he wasn't going to make it. Boba House is the real deal, and Sarah's has a great falafel wrap. Some of the the local burger joints have Impossible and Crafted has a couple of items that aren't bad. Pho Hien Vuong can hit the spot. When I'm here, it's mostly cook at home. My opinion? No, the Triad can't support many veggie places. This is surprising to anyone?

Maybe vegetarians simply didn't see Radici as a really good, alternative place. He lasted longer than I personally expected. As a vegetarian, I'm afraid of restaurateurs setting up shop in the Triad with overpriced and lackluster menus. And I think you've got it backwards, THEY have to do better. If you're interested in my idea of really good, have a look at the menu for Veggie Galaxy in Cambridge, Mass. THEN look at Radici.
Yes, Tuned, the menu was a bit underwhelming at Rad… but STILL… there’s not much here in that lane, so there’s no room to be uber critical or apply larger, world class city standards to this. For everything else that’s probably perfectly acceptable, but NOT when it comes to the veggie/vegan/alt options. I’m sorry. Boba is like the only place left at this point. Sarah’s is HIGHLY overrated even for what it is… respectfully.
But yeah it shouldn’t be surprising and I guess it’s actually not surprising at this point that these places are prone to struggle in the Triad. Smh.

I'm not a vegan or vegetarian so maybe that bias comes into play. But $20 for a rice bowl seemed ridiculous. And basically 3 entree options? I understand keeping it simple, but you have SOME variety, both of dish and of price point.
I actually wanted to like them but I couldn't get excited about the menu and thus never made it to visit. I think the Triad could support more vegan places... but you have to have quality, some variety, and stay at least in the stratosphere of reasonable price wise.

Veggie Galaxy is good but have you ever been to Belmont Vegetarian in Worcester? Radici was very good despite my desire to eat a lot of meat alternatives. Their menu wasn’t something I would normally be thrilled about but it was always great and I know they put a lot of effort into creating it.
