hi - i'm a 56 year old female looking for a nice place to live where the cost of living isn't too high (wish to rent) and the people are friendly. i spent some time in greensboro a year or so ago and upon repeat visits think that may be where i wish to relocate. safety is a major issue/pedestrian-friendly location/nice apartment rental with amenities that allows puppy dogs. would appreciate advice as to where is a good area to live - again, the ability to walk or ride my scooter to grocery store/library/things such as that would be awfully nice. mixed use communities out there perhaps? i probably need a large one bedroom or a two bedroom just because of all my treasures
thanks for your thoughts!!

I would say that Greensboro is not very scooter friendly to be honest. It's a car culture here. You will see a few bikes now and again, but most of greensboro is geared towards cars. I hope this changes in the future.
It's a family-oriented place...if you join a group of some kind centering around that idea I think it's easier to meet people and make friends. I do think there is a dog-park here, but I'm not sure where. That's an idea.
As far as scooters go, how fast is yours? horse power? If it's the Vespa type, you should have no problem here. It seems that speed limits really mean nothing here! Other than that, people *are* more courteous than other areas of the country, but a close following distance is common here, though honking seems not to be.
