I have recently moved to greensboro from florida. I need to store my car until june 2009. I have outstanding driving issues in Florida as well as NC so I am unable to get a license at this time. My car is drivable but won't pass state inspections without a few things done to it. The tags and registration from florida are expired.

How do I go about storing the vehicle? Is there a non driving insurance policy i can get and can i get it registered without inspecting it or obtaining a license?

any information would be very helpful

No need to inspect, insure or register vehicles that will not be operated on public roads. However, you'll need to report the untagged vehicle to your local county tax office for the annual property tax assessment.

When the time comes to put it back on the road, you'll need to acquire a NC drivers license to begin the registration process.

Bear in mind as of Oct 1 2008 NC now does what is called 'e-inspections.' What this means is your vehicle will have to pass inspection before you can get license plates.

Yep, but they pushed it back to November 1st. Some inspection stations weren't ready for the kickoff.
