I can't believe it is 2009 (nearly) and Greensboro is just now addressing this issue . . . or maybe what I am surprised about is that anyone in the city limits of G'boro would be doing this. It must be pretty widespread if they are having to pass an ordinance. We are talking city limits here! Wow. Just - wow.

Ani...they are getting with the program...just a little slow. I am sure that it is happening in the not so classy areas of town.

Gotcha. I guess I like to think of G'boro as this old Southern city w/ pretty lawns and sidewalks and big old trees. As a child, we lived in a small town outside of G'boro for a few years . . . so in my mind, it is this charming town and no run down areas. I just never saw the run down areas - all towns have them.
Greensboro is a pretty city...but trust me...there are several hood/run down areas. Every city has them. Maybe the parking ordinance will help the city.
Why is that. There is NO need to park in the front lawn...especially when you have a driveway. Just doesn't make sense at all.
I own a home in a historic district in Greensboro (I don't live there anymore, but still own the place). According to the planning department, when I parked in my driveway, I was parking in my front lawn. It's an old neighborhood where few lots were designed with driveways, but many have added them over the years. My lot has had its driveway since the 60s, but because it is not paved or graveled (I find both to be awfully distasteful compared to a nice bed of green), the planning dept says that it's not a driveway. At the time I lived there, we had 3 cars There is room for just one car on the street in front of the house, so where else can one park?
My neighbor has a pretty ugly storage trailer parked in the front yard. I was wondering if this rule applied.
