You and your friend ought to make sure that your cultural ways do not rub up against the cultural ways of your neighbors. Unless you are in the country, off loading a live hog in a development, then killing it, is just not gonna turn out all that well. Do yourself a favor. Think.

LLN,
Whatever my friend does from a cultural perspective is no concern of mine (given there's no harm to me or others) AND it's certainly not your concern. You better "think" yourself and not make any assumptions where & how things will be handled. Stop, listen & learn the truth before your ignorance spews out like uncontrolled waste.
it's the same reason lobster is sold live..it's fresher that way.not something I would care to do myself, mind you.I'm only saying.
if you've ever had fresh ham,(never frozen),then you know there really is no comparison.it's very tender.
personally if I had to kill my own meat,I'd go veg. in a second.

I'm with you on that one. I would never kill an animal myself. I have seen it done and that is as far as it will go with me.
If you live around others...make sure that they are okay with it. Many areas have rules againest butchering life stock.
Believe me, there is no way my friend will do anything stupid or that is against the wishes of his neighbors. He has this down to a science and knows exactly what he is doing. He's been doing this for years, but is new to this area and wants to find out some suppliers. He lives in the country on 15 acres of land. His closest neighbor is a considereable distance from him and his property is loaded with trees.
If you aren't capable of killing your own food you should think about going vegetarian. American society is so far removed from their food they have no concept of the process. Nowadays people recoil when someone talks about killing their own meat. Killing your own should be preformed at least once, it's the honorable thing to do. If you cant kill it, don't eat it.

I agree with what you have said, but don't I get the same benefits of watching someone kill the animal and then eating it afterwards? I just don't like to do it myself - that's all. Some do, but I don't.
