Apparently so, Nytestar....

Once again, my little area has had a few drops (literally), a lot of wind and thunder, but nothing useful...

it can rain on one side of Mauldin and not the other. We weren't home but things are wet around here tonight; can see lightening in the sky east of here.

Default Summer in SC

If it's in the 90s in June, what can we expect in July and August? I dont' even want to think about it. I lived in the Seattle area for many years - not much heat out there. The good news here is the trees provide great shade (like downtown), so you can walk around and not feel too hot. I always wear a large summer hat (that helps a lot).

Regarding the thunderstorms, since they are usually in the afternoon, I just carry my weather radio with me, so I can be prepared. WYFF weather guy recommended getting it (from BiLo), and it's about $30 off the regular price, and BiLo donates a portion of the money to charity! Hurray for BiLo!

this summer and the summer of 2008 are without a doubt the two hottest ive experienced since moving down here in the fall of 2004. that summer and this one so far stick out because i don't recall other summers as having 80+ degree temps at midnight. this is insane IMO.

I only hope that by the time I arrive there (7/1) the rain will have stopped, I totally hate driving in the rain here where I know where I'm going so I'm praying that it won't! I have Greenville in my Yahoo weather so I'll be checking it every day...

Ah, and when it does rain, does it have a certain pattern? For example, shortly after I moved here in 7/97 I believed it rained nearly every day but it would usually not start until 2-3 pm or even later, and after a couple of hours of intense rain most days it would be over... Also, someone told me that it usually cools off in the evenings, is that really so? It never gets cooler at night here in S. FL (except for a few miningless degrees...) but when I lived in DE some years it would actually feel quite chilly to me.

It's now 100 degrees outside with a Heat Index of 105.

And it was 85 degrees at 9 am this morning.

But hey, it's only supposed to be 99 tomorrow!

Excellent! Headed to the lake for the weekend. I'll be able to work on my tan.

I was going to start a new thread, but since this one came back, I'll use it.

for those that have been here for a while, how has the weather the last few days compare to the average July here?

It has been hot, but the humidity is way down from what we are used to, and we have really enjoyed it. We drove up on Wednesday, and it was less humid here at 3pm than it was in FL when we left at 5am.
