Hi,
Trying to decide on a retirement home and I have narrowed it down to Summerville (family there) and Greenville (the climate is very appealing to me). I know alot about Summerville and the neighborhoods there but very little about Greenville so I will of course have to make some trips there. I was wondering if I could get some help with maybe a list of 5 or so new neighborhoods in Greenville with homes in the 180,000 to 220,000 range? I have been looking on realtor.com and other sites and there is very little for sale. Is the market that tight in Greenville right now or am I looking in all the wrong places?
Hi Ollie, are you specifically looking for new construction? There are actually a lot of options in that price rnage but not in Greenville proper; I would say most are in Simpsonville. I would be glad to send you a list ; there are some in Greer and Taylors as well.
If you are looking in Greenville city limits, that may be true. Try expanding your search to include nearby towns such as Mauldin, Greer, Simpsonville, Travelers Rest, and others. Looking at ggar dot com I see lots listed in your price range throughout the Upstate.
You can buy in that range in the Fairview Road, Harrison Bridge, Georgia Road area of Simponsville. Neely Farm is a nice established n'hood in this area that has some houses for sale in that range.
Ok; I did a quick search and there are too many for me to list right now. For new construction, here are just a few: Martindale in Greenville, Hampton Farms, Victoria Park, Watermill Pond in Simpsonville, Woodland Forest in Greer, Blue Ridge Planataion in Taylors.

Thank you all for the input! No, it does not have to be new construction, it's just that I didn't see anything available for sale that was of interest. Established neighborhoods are just fine for me. School districts are not a factor, we don't have school age children.

Okay; then there are a lot of choices, as was stated above; especially in the areas outside of Greenville itself.
Before we moved to Greenville, we were supposed to move to Summerville. It didn't work out so we ended up in Greenville, Taylors actually. We are glad to be here. Summerville seemed to have most of the stores but the downtown was very vanilla compared to Greenville. There's always something going on here I like the fact that Summerville is close to the beach though. There are many different subdivisions here. What are you looking for in a neighborhood? Come check it out!

Happy Holidays to all!
The Eastside of Greenville may be a place to start. Housing inventory is tight, ESP at the price point you indicated. There are also areas of Ft Inn that may be appealing. Internet is a great place to start, but find a real estate professional that understands your needs / wants. The good ones are worth their weight in gold.
Great tips! I did go back on line and expand my search to Mauldin, Simpsonville, and others and have found so much more information than where I was looking. We will do several driving trips to narrow down an area we like, then definitely will work with a realtor. We have 2 yrs to do this. At least that's our target time to move on and out of where we are. We live near beaches now, and are burnt out with the coastal life. We are looking to be near mountains or just a couple of hrs. drive to mountains when we relocate. Summerville (Charleston) I think is still going to be to coastal for me.
