Independent films are starting at the Gunter Theater in the Peace Center. Tickets are 9 dollars. Beer and wine will be served. Below is a link to the showings. Such a great addition to the downtown scene.

COOL!! I thought I'd heard rumblings about something like this a while back. Could be really good for business at downtown restaurants!

I'm glad to see a year round schedule of movies. Until now, the Moonlight Movies were the only downtown opportunity, and while nice, were limited to one night a week for short one month spans.

Is there anywhere else around that shows films like these? Is there anywhere that does film festivals/series?

I recently saw "A MATTER OF SIZE" and Israeli film - I've seen it 3 times, loved that movie!! The American trailers really doesn't do it justice.

My son just told me about a movie (documentary) he wants to see called Marwencol that sounds odd, but interesting (totally my sons type of movie)

Peace Center plans to show a mix of first run movies and art films, so there is a good chance you'll like the movies they show. Additionally, once a year, spring I believe, Peace Center host a film festival.

The Upstate Film Society sponsors a monthly indie film series at the Cherrydale Cinemas. They also host an annual indie film festival.

That's just part of the intrinsic charm of being "down South"! People with other perspectives are just as welcome/legally allowed to articulate their views as well.

I will definitely keep watch of what's coming up. Love foreign films.

Has anyone seen anything they thought was great lately? Besides a MATTER OF SIZE, I really thought SOUS LEs BOMBS aka UNDER THE BOMBS was a great movie, it grabs you from the first minute and keeps you there. The actors were superb and believable. Not for everyone, about after effects of war in Lebanon, but really a good movie. They said only 2 professional actors were used for the movie.
