Husband is OTR and we can't survive here anymore and miss greenery!
Asking for suggustions of living locations. We like country living, don't mind a short drive to the city. Would like housing areas that offer a litte space (land) and no HOA! Best discription: horse property, not that we have one.
Also, and do I need to state, areas that have low crime rate and laid back community. We are educated, will be retiring in the area, enjoy the arts, brew our own and outgoing...we are done living in the suburbs and would like something more rural.
Anyone who would be willing to "sponsor" us in the way of info and guidance would be appreciated.
There are quite a few rural places to choose from depending on your budget. Travelers Rest, Dacusville, Blue Ridge, Greer, Easley--the list could go on. What size home, how much land and approximate price range are you looking at? Not trying to be nosey, just need a little more info.
I should clearify that at this moment we are looking to rent a home. Our home here in Phx is up for short sell and we would like to rent, rebuild our credit, and spend some time in the Greater Greenville area before making that final decission to buy.
So, at this point we are wanting to rent a home outside the crowded city limits and needing to know what areas we should be looking.

I'd say you'll want to look at the Travelers Rest, Fountain Inn and Easley areas (esp west of Easley along Hwy 123). There are even pockets of rural-feeling areas closer in, near Mauldin, Simpsonville and the Greer/Taylors area. Im sure others here can help point you in the right direction in finding non-apartment rental properties.
I agree with the posts mentioning Easley and you may want to check Powdersville and maybe Williamston since they are closer to I-85. Alps, Powdersville is incorporated so you may want to check for properties in the Wren school district.
We just moved to Inman 1 year ago. It is GORGEOUS, super convenient to Spartanburg and some great restaurants and culture, not far from Greenville, plenty o' horses, lakes, woods, fields, and on and on and on! We live on the border of Boiling Springs. I think the prices are great, but I'm coming from RI!
