An economic incentive change designed to bring a Bass Pro Shops location to Greenville County near Interstate 85 has moved ahead in a Statehouse committee.
The bill passed the House Ways and Means Committee on Tuesday on a 15-4 vote. MOD CUT.

Rumor has it that BPS has opted out of the Greer site and will be going where the former Hoechst Celanese plant currently sits behind Whole Foods Market. The owners of the site are apparently kicking out the tenants currently so they can tear it down and have BPS come in.
You mean off of Woodruff Road? That's the only WF, right? Boy, even more congestion on Woodruff........ But I LOVE BPS! I hope they have a fish tank like the one in Myrtle Beach.
Oh, I really wish it would go at the original site! I'm glad to see it going ahead, but I hate that stretch of road as it is.... So, they spent all that money refurbing the former factory site into office/warehouse space, and now they're going to tear it down.
This is awesome. I hope this helps pave the way for Bass Pro to move forward with plans to open. I would also have rather seen them develop on Hwy 14 but hey, this is great news anyway.
A Bass Pro Shop at that location near Woodruff Road/I-85 would add yet another large sporting goods store within a very small area. With Dick's Sporting Goods directly across Woodruff Road (in The Shops at Greenridge) and with both Academy Sports + Outdoors and The Sports Authority directly across I-85, that area is already sufficiently saturated. A few miles away, you can shop at yet another Sports Authority on Laurens Road.
Stop the madness! Why in the world would anyone want to travel on Woodruff Road? This will only make that area more congested. What a mess. Not only is that road a mess, the shopping centers have terrible traffic flow problems. I wish something could be done, but I am afraid it is too late. I hope the Bass Pro Shop elects to find a different location on I-85. How about the Powdersville exit?
My husband will be very excited! Thank you for keeping us informed.
