So I've seen a picture of this sign floating around the internet for a while and just recently saw a caption that said "Sign near Clemson, SC".
I was wondering if any of you have ever seen this sign and if so, where exactly is it located and what, if there is one, is the history behind it?. I'll have to make a point of driving by it if I've ever in the area.

Typically, roads are designed to allow water to drain away from the surface. The sign really means "caution [standing] water on road during rain". If water is standing on the road, cars could easily hydroplane, etc etc. I know you have to read between the lines, but it's not a dumb as you might think!

Then the sign should have said just that. Instead, the way it reads plays into stereotypes and makes us all appear as ignorant morons. It's still quite funny, regardless though.
I haven't seen that particular sign but it could be a stretch of road that looks flat but actually has a low spot that floods quickly when it rains. A good warning for people who don't know the road.
I still have my doubts about that sign's authenticity or the truth about its location...
+1 Might have just been a "hit and run" by the op. Unfortunately we are the target of many "enlightened" people.
