Hi,
I have recently moved to the Greenville area and am looking for a place to live. My spouse works in Greenville in the Pelham Rd area and I work in downtown Spartanburg. We are looking for a home in an area that is midway between G'ville and Spartanburg.
I am leaning more towards Spartanburg 'coz that will shorten my commute but we will prefer an area that has a moderately easy access to I-85.
Can anybody please suggest an area that is nice and meets this criteria?
Thanks in advance

In general, the Greer and Taylors area would be good for that situation. On the west side of Spartanburg, the Woodridge subdivision is a nice location for example.

There are some nice neighborhoods off Reidville Rd. between Hwy 101 & Hwy 290, a few miles from I-85, in the Reidville area. Seems like a pretty centralized location there.

Really depends on just what type of area you're looking to live in, if you want to buy or rent, and what your budget will allow. Also think about what's important in your every day life to be close to. You have Lyman, Wellford and Duncan being between the two cities, but I have no clue what type of housing is available between the two. Greer is a good choice, it's only about 20 minute drive to DT Spartanburg and a straight shot on Hwy 29 (Wade Hampton in Greer)

I would recommend Lyman or Greer. Depending on where you work, you're looking at 25 minutes commute for both of you. Wade Hampton can be a bit of a pain though if you catch it at a bad time.

If you are wishing to rent, I was impressed with Alta Crescent on Suber Rd when I was doing my own rental search.

I recommend the Pelham-Batesville area because you can live near Greenville/Greer and enjoy better amenities close to home, yet still be near I-85 east of Greenville.

We need more information:

Buy or rent?

Buying? ....... What is your budget?

We are looking for a rental place for the time being. Thank you all..I think Greer might be a good idea.
I googled Alta Crescent and it looks good, but I am hoping to rent a townhome/private house as that will give my 3 yr old a little more space to play, etc.
Any ideas how to go about the search? Are there any websites available other than Craigslist? Also, can anyone suggest a real estate broker who deals with rentals?
I am thinking a 2 bd/2 bath with a not-too small kitchen and backyard will be good and my budget is about $800-$900 p/m. Does that sound reasonable?

If that is your base budget (housing only, no utilities), check into Spring Crossing Circle (on Suber Rd, next to Riverside HS).

2-3 bedroom townhomes are renting at that price point. Add another ~$200 per month for all utilities on your typical townhouse.

For rent signs are usually in the window if any are available.

Gets you convenience, swimming pool, yard space and pretty decent housing.

Residents appear to be younger couples (with and without children) and younger working professionals. Add in a smattering of retirees.

Disclaimer .... I am a landlord there but do not live there. No, I do not have any units available.

Greer is what people usually suggest between the two areas
