Hi guys,
I was wondering if you could tell me what the drive is like between 85 and 25 on hy 11/cherokee foothills parkway?

I'm trying to find an alternate way to get from 85 to my house in travelers rest and thought this one might be an option. The other way takes me up wade hampton and easily adds 30 minutes to my drive. Thanks!

From how far up 85 are you coming? If you are coming from Spartanburg, then 11 wouldn't be ideal, but if you are coming from Charlotte, then maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

A little more info would help us make suggestions.

It's a very pretty two-lane, scenic road but I'm not sure I would use it for a daily commute. It depends on where you're coming from. We used it coming back from the Charlotte area when we weren't in a hurry. I've never been on it during "rush hour". It's good to keep in mind that gas stations on that road are few and far between.

Are you coming from the south (Georgia) or north (N. Carolina)? Coming from the south, it might well be a doable alternative.

I'm just using it to go between Raleigh and Travelers rest maybe once every few months. I couldn't stand taking the wade hampton way a few weeks ago.

When we lived in Spartanburg, we would take 26 off of 85 to 11 to get to my parents' house- they live up above TR. It is a 2 lane road, but SO much better and more scenic than going Wade Hampton to 290 or Pleasantburg, etc. There are tons of areas where it's legal to pass, so even if you get behind someone slow it's not a big deal. For us, the drive time was about the same either way, but we just preferred Hwy 11. The only time when I didn't go that way was if I was driving at night and my husband wasn't with me- there are gas stations here and there, but most of the time there is nothing but scenery.

If you are traveling SC-11 west of US-25, specifically west os SC-14 also, you will get the scenic aspect of the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway.

Anything east of SC-14 has spots of commercial and residential aspects as the route travels through Campobello, New Prospect, Fingerville, Chesnee, and Gaffney.
