So how much of a mad house was it? As in if I show up around 10am on saturday or sunday do I have a chance of getting a gift card or is there already lines?
My sister-in-law informed me that the line getting into the store (yesterday morning) extended past Yogurt Mountain and around the entire Pointe complex! Nevertheless, she drove away and did not go in.
I'm going to try this Sunday.
(By the way, I strongly disagreed with the mod locking the original thread - thank you for starting this new one.)

Me too. Figure Sunday with everyone in church is our best shoot. I need a new camelbak! Thanks!
My family is going tomorrow morning as part of a family excursion thing. We usually go into Greenville at least once a week, and this is as good of an excuse as any to make the trip.
My wife and I are partial to Cabela's, and visit the store in Dundee every year when we vacation in Michigan, but REI is a great store, and we've driven to Asheville several times to visit the store there. It will be nice to an REI within 50 miles.
Just an update - I was about #170 in line today and rec'd my free CamelBak water bottle - nice with REI Greenville embossed and a $5 gift card - the bottle is worth $14 in the store
REI is great addition to Greenville's expanding retail scene
