Wide range on this one:

The agreement says larger incentives are available if the company completes what is considered an “enhanced investment project” that creates a minimum of 125 jobs and includes a minimum investment of $150 million. Incentives for the company will be even larger, according to the agreement, if the business creates at least 300 jobs and invests a little more than $500 million in Anderson County.

Nelson said the proposed project amounts to a minimum investment of $550 million, and over time, it could grow to a larger project that would be in the “600 million to 1 billion” range.

Considering the fact that they already employ 700 in Anderson County, it should be a relatively easy guess. Check Upstate Alliance for employer information.

Kravet Inc and Milliken both employ 700 workers in Anderson County. However, the list hasn't been updated in a while as it shows BMW employing 5,400 when they actually employ 7,000 currently.

Quick question, why is it that surrounding counties always get the huge economic/industrial developments? greenville county gets the smaller economic developments compared to Spartanburg, Anderson, etc counties.

1,400 new jobs for TD Bank and 350 new jobs for CertusBank are small? Can't forget about Amy's Kitchen 700 jobs also even though that is currently on hold.

I mean compared to BMW constant investments that is small, especially considering how terrible the bank industry is doing. In reality do you really believe they will hire 1,400 people? I don't think so, but I could always be wrong. Don't get me wrong I love Greenville and I'm very optimistic towards it but expecting 1,400 jobs from a "bank" is unlikely, maybe a few hundred. You can't forget that Spartanburg was chosen for Amazon, Pickens for the Titan Metal Company or something like that, and now this for Anderson.

Hopefully you understand what I'm saying. Greenville doesn't get the billion dollar developments like surrounding counties, but they benefit Greenville County the most. Why is that? Don't worry though, it works the same in Raleigh-Durham. Durham technically has all the jobs but Raleigh benefits much more from it, I'm sure if those jobs were in Wake County (where Raleigh is), Wake County would have a even larger tax-base.

Like is there some kind of industrial zoning in those counties that Greenville doesn't have? Is that why they choose those counties instead? I'm not understanding why they go with those counties instead of Greenville..that's all I'm saying

Yes I do. TD Bank is very healthy large bank unlike what Carolina First was. One of the few AAA rated banks left. Tenant upfit for their buildings has already started. I think Certus will hire at least 350 also due to how fast they are growing and who their executive team is made of.

More power to you, hopefully they do hire 1,400. It would be excellent, most Banks have been cutting back that's why I "assumed" they would be too. Certus Bank hiring 350 sounds like a great number and very reasonable especially since its going downtown.

But can you answer my original question(s)?

Honestly, I don't know the answer infoman but my guess would be it's due to more land being available and less cost to purchase that land.
