I would to have more seafood options as well! I am with foxtrot--Charleston, but local I guess Nantuckets is it. I do go to the Easley Farmers market in the spring. There is a couple there that goes to Charleston & they bring shrimp & sell it.
do you happen to remember how much it was per pound last year? just curious, I make a mean shrimp creole but don't enjoy spending an arm and a leg on prefrozen shrimp in the area here...thanks!
They were $10.99 per lb. Very large shrimp! You would love the farmers market. The fresh baked bread is very good. If you get a chance find the lady that sells the cinnamon chip bread. It is oh so fresh!! The guy who sells shrimp cooks shrimp & grits on site and you can have that too. I didn't try it but everyone was raving!
I had oysters and peel and eat shrimp at BIMINIS yesterday (off of Pelham, near Haywood). Biminis is a Myrtle Beach tradition. The environment is very "dive bar" like but the oysters and shrimp were much better in quality than those I find at places like Joes Crab Shack. I'll head back with DH to check out their hotpot and crab legs. A dozen raw oysters and 1/4 pound shrimp plus tea was $20. They have a March madness special with $2 off lunch.
I'll second Bimini's. We found them last fall, not long before we moved from Greenville, and loved the restaurant.
