Is anyone concerned about the health effects of living near the nuclear power plant on lake Keowee? Does anyone know of any health effects in the local population such as increases in cancer?

No. It is a gross understatement to say that radiation emissions are monitored extremely closely.

There have been nuclear power plants online now around the country for how many decades now? Has there ever been an iron-clad connection between or evidence of living near (or even miles away from) a nuclear plant and health issues?

The Oconee Nuclear Power Plant will be one of the plants in a US Study( started in 2010, they are determing all the factors to use in the study) on the effects of living close to a nuclear power plant. Germany has done studies and found some correlation between an increase in childhood cancers and living in close proximity to a nuclear power plant.
I realize that I'm not comfortable living near one, but I also know others obviously have no concern with doing so. To each his own.
