My inlaws are elderly living in Asheville and need to fly direct nonstop into Southwest Florida. The only thing I've found is Greenville to Orlando on Southwest.
Does anyone know of any airline I'm missing?
I know Myrtle Beach has a lot of direct flights with a lot of different airlines but that is too far away.
I second the Allegiant suggestion. They only fly to FL from GSP. I just booked a OW ticket to Ft Lauderdale for $35.29 (tax included)
BTW, FYI, as of January 26th 2012 they will no longer be selling Allegiant tickets at the airport. Was a great way to save some $ if you had a RT and/or multiple tickets to buy - saved you $10 a segment. No more as of the 26th.
Just make sure if you do book them a flight with Allegiant, get them there in more than enough time. Saw two young men not make it on the plane when I was there the other day. Ticket agent said the captain closes the door 10min before the flight leaves the boarding gate and won't let anyone on after that. Bad thing is, there are no other flights for these guys to get on - Allegiant only flys twice a week, Monday and Friday (at this time, at least)
Allegiant operates the McDonnell-Douglas MD 82/83, McDonnell-Douglas MD 87 and Boeing 757-200 series aircraft. Both McDonnell-Douglas MD series aircraft are powered by two (2) tail-mounted Pratt & Whitney turbofan engines, and have two (2) flight deck crew members and three (3) in-flight crew members. The MD 82/83 aircraft has 150 coach class seats, and the MD 87 aircraft has 130 coach class seats. The Boeing 757-200 series aircraft is powered by two (2) wing-mounted Rolls Royce RB211-535-E4 engines, and has two (2) flight deck crew members and five (5) in-flight crew members. The Boeing 757-200 has 217 coach class seats.
So it will be either a 130 seater, 150 seater, or 217 seater. They are large planes, in good shape, and are always packed out of GSP.
I'm not trying to be a jerk, but it only took me about 10 seconds on a Google search to find this for you.
I always check Travelocity.com. They seem to give you all the options and discounts available.
