Well, our experience with the Vault of Terror was a bust, so we are wondering if there are any locals who love haunted houses like we do and are willing to tell us the best ones in the area?

Thanks

Scarowinds is the best haunted house in the area. Don't waste your time or money on the ones along Highway 123.

The scariest experience of your entire life could be waiting at the Old City Jail in Charleston. I heard an interview with some paranormal experts on Coast to Coast AM when I first moved to SC and lived in Charleston and they said this place ranks internationally as among the scariest they've been to. Here is a link to my original post which links to the experts.. //www.city-data.com/forum/charl...t-haunted.html

I have heard the Scarowinds is a good production, but after looking up their info it is a bit too pricey for us. Something to put on my to do list, though.

We will have to check them out sometime. In AL, where I am from, we had the Atrox Factory that was really great. They have old horror movie actors and actresses come out to sign autographs. I think the best one my wife and I have been to is Netherworld, in Atlanta. That place has movie quality production. We would also love to go to House of Shock in Louisiana. It is actually said to be very disturbing. If we could, we would tour the US during Halloween season and hit all the best spots.

I heard the "Nightmare on Pendleton Street" in Greenville is good, but haven't been there yet.

Here is a list of upstate attractions:

If you want a great experience, look no further than Netherworld. Their production is top notch. You have to drive down to Atlanta though.
