Just curious, what is the purpose of the Your Carolina TV show? I was watching recently when in Greenville and don't see the purpose of understanding the difference in bird feeders.
The purpose of the show, regardless of its poor production quality, is to provide additional opportunities for advertising revenue. The investment is relatively small and the target audience is fairly narrow (definitely not intended to appeal to young males). The concept of a local daytime lifestyle show is decent, but rarely executed perfectly. Nonetheless, it succeeds in generating ad sales, which is the ultimate goal.
It was most likely a vehicle to retire Jack Roper to once it became clear that he didn't have the appropriate degrees to be the director of meteorology.
I do appreciate the near monthly shout-outs to the Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation though. They have the executive director on to discuss preservation happenings in the upstate.

Local revenue generator from regional advertising is indeed a function of that show. Some of the interview segments actually feature paid sponsors. Many stations around the country have a local morning show of some sort. The original Regis and Kathie Lee program started as a local morning show on WABC in New York, and now continues to this day with Kelly Rippa and Michael Strahan. Meanwhile, Kathie Lee has moved on to the Today show, and Regis is joining Fox Sports network. But I do wish they would let Jack Roper do the weather again. At least one station should have a weatherman with an entertaining personality, and he can certainly communicate information provided by the meteorologists at the National Weather Service. He doesn't need to have an official degree himself, as he is a veteran all purpose broadcaster.
Just another "quality" product from News Channel 7. They're borderline as bad as WHNS.
LOL. this "quality" has been going on for years. Watching this show was like waiting for a train wreck, I could not believe that folks were discussing bird feeders, it would have been great material for SNL.
Your Carolina with Jack and Kimberly is supposedly a local lifestyle and entertainment program. The show was started after Media General acquired Spartan Communications and wanted to adapt Daytime, a local program on its flagship station WFLA in Florida, across several stations.
A similar program has debuted on WSPA's sister station WYCW, Carolina Now.
WSPA also has a local evening entertainment program, Scene on 7, also hosted by Kimberly Kelly. I enjoy the opinion segment with guest commentators. And Jack Roper does a trivia contest "You Don't Know Jack." I think you win a meal pass to Hardee's.
I see Scene on 7 is more entertainment and local scene news and opinion, likely an extension of the news.
